Free parcel data in Michigan
Michigan has no single free statewide parcel layer we could verify, but many counties publish their own. Basesheet currently uses 6 Michigan county services: Ingham, Kalamazoo, Kent, Macomb, Oakland, Ottawa.

Layer id is 1. PARCELNUM is dashed 'CC-UU-TT-SS-BBB-PPP', e.g. '33-01-01-16-182-001' (33 = Ingham, 01 = Lansing). Road right-of-way is mapped as large multi-ring polygons with PARCELNUM ending '-ROW'; ignore those in point hits. No single situs field: PROPADDRNU + PROPADDRDI + PROPSTREET (+ UNITORAPT). PROPCITY is the situs city. OWNER* fields are owner mailing. Annual layer: check for a newer 'Ingham_County_Parcels_<year>_view' each spring.

Layer id is 11. Field names are truncated (ONERNAME1 = owner name, PCOMBINED = combined situs, PRESSCITY = situs city, OTADDRESS = owner mailing street). PELNUMBER is dashed 'TT-SS-BBB-PPP', e.g. '06-15-356-003'. Condo units are stacked identical polygons (a point in a condo building returns one feature per unit), so dedupe by geometry. Annual layer: a 'Parcels_<year>' successor may appear.

Text fields are fixed-width and space-padded ('300 MONROE AVE NW ', 'GRAND RAPIDS '), so trim or use LIKE. PROPADDRESSCITY is the situs city. No owner, deed or legal fields. TAXPARCEL_FLAG distinguishes tax parcels from condo common areas.

Layer id is 10. TAX_ID is dashed 'TT-SS-BBB-PPP', e.g. '11-14-209-019'; BSA_ID adds the 2-digit unit prefix used by BS&A Online ('05-11-14-209-019'). ADDRESS is the situs ('7 N MAIN ST'); propertyCityStateZip is a combined 'MOUNT CLEMENS, MI 48043' string and CVT_NAME is the city/village/township, so no separate city field. LEGAL sometimes cites plat book/page inline ('A/P NO. 25 (L15, P15)'), but there are no separate deed/plat fields.

MapServer layer 1 ('Tax Parcel Plus'). PIN is the 10-digit Oakland parcel number with no separators, e.g. '1925356011' (displayed 19-25-356-011); strip dashes from user input. SITEADDRESS/SITECITY are situs (blank on some exempt parcels; POSTALADDRESS then often holds the address). Owner names (NAME1/NAME2) are suppressed (null) in this public service, so no owner field. CVTTAXDESCRIPTION is the city/village/township.

FinalPIN is dashed 'CC-TT-SS-BBB-PPP', e.g. '70-07-25-300-006' (70 = Ottawa); FinalPackedPIN is the same without dashes ('700725300006'). Condo units have their own FinalPIN and share ParentPIN. PropertyAddress is blank for some vacant land (StreetName may still be set); PropertyCity is the situs postal city. Mailing* fields are owner mailing address.
How to use it
- QGIS: Layer > Data Source Manager > ArcGIS REST Server, add a connection with the service URL (the endpoint above without the
final
/0), then add the layer. Filter to your area before exporting. - ArcGIS Pro: Add Data > Data From Path, paste the endpoint.
- Direct query: append
/query?geometry=LON,LAT&geometryType=esriGeometryPoint&inSR=4326&spatialRel=esriSpatialRelIntersects&outFields=*&f=geojsonto get the parcel at a point. - CAD: see getting a parcel into AutoCAD or Civil 3D.
Assessor parcel lines are for taxation and are often 5 to 50 ft off the legal boundary. Why.
Basesheet uses this to draw the parcel line on a base plan for any Michigan address, with LiDAR contours, soils, flood zones and wetlands.
